It was Thursday evening, just before 6 p.m., when one of our Owners called in. All water to the house had shut off unexpectedly. With the family expecting a full house the following evening, the concern was immediate. Timing that could not have been worse.
Luckily, Garabedian Estate Management Services responded immediately and began troubleshooting right away.
The Problem
The home’s water monitoring system had triggered an automatic shutoff. The water sensor had shut off because it found a leak somewhere in the house — the system triggers the water shutoff to prevent the leak from spreading. After walking through the home with the Owner over the phone, nothing indicated an active issue.
No visible leaks; no pressure loss indicators; no damage. Then what was the problem?
The Solution
Instead of “waiting until morning,” our team stayed on the call and worked through the system step-by-step. After isolating the issue, we confirmed the alarm sensor had misfired. Within just an hour of troubleshooting over the phone, our team diagnosed the problem and guided our Owners through their water sensor reset.
Water was restored that evening!
To be on the safe side and address any concerns of underlying conditions, we also scheduled a plumber to arrive the following morning to inspect the system and verify everything was operating correctly.
